A Normal Catboy Story, or the Cat and Superstition
A downloadable zine
This twenty-eight page zine collects seven prose episodes and digital collages. The subject is the catboy as an archetypal character and narrative motif re: aesthetic re-appropriation, carceral behavioral institutions, transformative works, and fetishization. In the tradition of online fanwork cultures and American English fanfiction, “A Normal Catboy Story, or the Cat and Superstition” is a literary exercise in asking if even such a thing is possible. What is a catboy out-of-context? Can you even tell a normal catboy story?

i've been trying to petition all my friends to read this. this and your accompanying website sent me down a rabbithole through which i became a very different person... catboy church in particular inspired me and now i am nursing a story in its honor. your prose is very distinct and lovely and itches me just right in the brain. i think my favorite passage from this is the "please be patient i have autism (gen)" paragraph. catboy church 4EVER
